Dream Auto Exhibition 2008: Turin, Italy

The Dream Exhibition was held from September 19th through November 23rd of 2008 in Turin, Italy as a tribute to the memory of the late Andrea Pininfarina. The exhibition hosted 54 examples of conceptual and one-off designs, including fully functioning automobiles, scale models, sketches, and drawings.

Organized into 12 galleries that lead viewers in a chronological journey, the exhibition layout started from the relaunch of the coachbuilding industry after the Second World War, through to the rise of Ghia, Bertone and Pininfarina and culminating with the latest creations shown at Geneva that year. The Exhibition featured 54 full-size prototypes and mock-ups on display, including scale models, original sketches and drawings from the various design studios.

An entire hall was given to the still-stunning 1955 Ghia Gilda Streamline X penned by Giovanni Savonuzzi, one of the first engineer/stylists to study the use of dorsal fins to increase the stability of automobiles. Named in honor of the American actress Rita Hayworth, it remains as an emblem of the carefree optimism of that period returned to it's birthplace of Turin fully restored, and currently resides in Scott Grundfor's collection in California.
