This special order Gullwing was shipped new on April 21, 1956 by the factory to Mercedes-Benz Distributors, Inc. of New York, New York USA. First owner of record is Gordon Henderson of Los Angeles, California. Henderson sold the car to James P. Foust of Carson, CA. Foust later sold the car to Erich Hillgruber of Pacific Palisades, CA. Foust, while residing in Las Vegas, NV, re-acquired the car from Hillgruber and passed the car to Gary Roberts of Costa Mesa, CA.
In ______, noted German 300SL restoration specialist Kienle Automobiltecknic GmbH acquired the car and put it through the rigors of a no expense spared full body-off mechanical and cosmetic restoration including some very desirable upgrades for driving comfort and performance.
